Toothpaste & toothbrushes, chapstick, socks and hand sanitzer.

Many people may take for granted having those items in their homes. But what about those who don’t have a home?

What started out as a small, first service project for the group 139:16 grew into 0ver 300 bags given out to the homeless in Memphis.

139:16 of St. Michael Catholic Church decided to create and distribute what they’re calling “blessing bags” to the homeless.

Each plastic Ziploc-style bag contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, crackers, hand sanitizer, socks and a hand colored scripture card.  The scripture cards  let the homeless person know that he or she is being prayed for by the members of St. Michael parish.

139:16 is made up of young adults with special needs who know that together they can make a difference in Memphis.

They distributed the bags to members of St Michael parish who has since then distributed them to homeless people throughout the city.
